Fey | פ

Fey is the energy over power or dominion.

The fey represents the energy that determines the moment to speak and the moment to be silent. It is an ethical precept (mitzvah) to speak, but it is also to remain silent. The energy to know the exact moment in which we have to stop our words and be silent, belongs to the energy of the Fey.

The word pe in Hebrew means 'mouth'. The energy of pe is the energy of what is said and what is silenced. My person (my self) is defined by what I say and by what I silence.

The numerical value of the fey is 80, and the letters of the word אנכי anoji, add up to 80. I must not live always silencing things, nor speak too much. It was the great prophets of Israel who denounced injustices by speaking to society. But I must be cautious, because I must know when it is convenient to speak and when to be silent, to possess this conscience is the beginning of wisdom.

The dimension of Gevurah should control Hod, the structured language. Who is strong? Who controls himself? Can I control my language and my silences? The pe is the energy that should dominate all my language. Psalm 81 says: "I am God, your lord, who rescued you from Egypt. Enlarge your mouth and I will fill it." Why does Psalm 81 refer to the mouth? We know that the mouth (pe) is 80, but we acquire the mastery of what we speak after surpassing the degree of 80; for that reason the highest degree to widen the mouth is level 81. We have not received the mouth to defame others but to speak in a proper way, knowing that the word and silence have a powerful energy.

Guevurah-Hod
Emotional boundaries must be revealed in our words. Language must be as precise as possible, within our im- perfections and within the interpretations that often distort speech. Guevurah is the power of control, it is the energy of control. Hod is speech and writing. We must control the tongue, say the great sages of Kabbalah. Guevurah on Hod gives us awareness of the energy of control of words and the virtue of silence. Sometimes we must be silent and let others speak, we must not speak too much. This energy generates prudence. With Guevurah we have the power to control the tongue, not to make gossip and rumors of all kinds. He who rumors has no control over Hod from his Guevurah. The discipline of the Gevurah must serve us to control our language in Hod. If we slander (Hod) it is because our Gevurah has no control over the tongue.

Hod-Gevurah
Words have the power to create reality: when a person verbalizes something, that something causes a materialization. Words, therefore, have power. A person can destroy with words. With words one can distort reality. With words one can accuse, judge, lie.... That is why the power of the word must be controlled with the power of Guevurah. We must know which words to use. In Guevurah we must control our power. The one who controls himself, is the one who possesses the true energy of Guevurah.
